As indicated in another post from today, the month of Kartik begins today (Oct 28th) and this is a time of year when devotees of Lord Krishna often take vows to increase their spiritual efforts. For example, a devotee may vow to chant a certain number of extra rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra. Or a devotee may choose to vow to read a certain book by Srila Prabhupada during the month of Kartik.
