Nityananda Trayodasi Celebrations

Nityananda Trayodasi, the auspicious appearance day of Lord Nityananda falls on Thursday, February 2nd this year. The name Nityananda means eternal happiness and He’s none other than Lord Balaram who appeared in the 15th century along with Caitanya Mahaprabhu (Lord Krishna). Together with other associates, they propagated the chanting of the holy names far and wide. Lord Nityananda’s compassion knows no bounds as He is always drowning in ecstatic love:

“The noble Lord Nityananda is never angry, for He is the personification of supreme transcendental bliss. Devoid of any concept of false ego, Nitai wanders about the town.”
– Lochana das Thakur, Chaitanya Mangala

This festival has always been a fan-favorite amongst devotees at ISKCON Toronto. As such we’re happy to return to in-person festivities after a two-year hiatus! There are a few traditions at ISKCON Toronto for this occasion. Firstly, devotees are encouraged to dress in blue which is Lord Nityananda’s favorite colour! Additionally, we offer a flower outfit to Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai; This special darshan will begin at 7am and be available until 6:30pm (click here for the Darshan/Altar opening schedule). The main festivities will begin at 6pm and will feature a “Bhajan Sandhya – Meditations on Sri Nityananda Prabhu”. In this special feature, we will use the beautiful musical compositions of our tradition to go deeper into the personality of Sri Nityananda Prabhu. See the poster for the full program schedule.

We look forward to everyone joining us for these sweet festivities! For those who cannot attend physically, we will have a live broadcast on our Youtube channel. As always, festivities like this are only possible with your support; for more information on how you can participate click HERE.
