Gaura Purnima Celebrations

Join us at the Toronto Hare Krishna Temple on March 17, 2022, for virtual festivities as we celebrate one of the most momentous festivals of the year, Gaura Purnima, the appearance day of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu!
Lord Krishna appeared as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Navadvipa, located in Bengal, in 1486. He demonstrated how to practice the teachings of Lord Krishna with love and devotion, inspiring many to follow his example. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu established a Golden Age amidst the age of Kali (Kali Yuga) and propagated the chanting of the Holy Names of Krishna (Sankirtan) as the prescribed method of worship for this day and age (Yuga Dharma). He made his teachings accessible to all, transcending the boundaries of gender, caste, and creed to spread the joy of loving God. Through his extraordinary life and teachings, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu embodies the most important aspects of being a pure devotee of Lord Krishna.
The celebrations are not to be missed! We are happy to announce that festivities will be in person (Covid protocols remain in place)! The Temple will be open from 4:15am to 7:30pm; there will be a simplified festival program from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
