Nrsimha Caturdasi Celebrations

On Sunday, May 15, 2022, we at ISKCON Toronto will celebrate the appearance day of Lord Nrsimha, also known as Nrsimha Caturdasi.
The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Krishna, appeared as Lord Nrsimhadeva, the half-man half-lion incarnation, to protect the saintly child Prahlada, who was being persecuted by his father, the demoniac king Hiranyakashipu. Fasting is observed by many devotees on this day. Lors Nrsimhadeva appeared at dusk so this is the time the fast is traditionally broken (approximately 9:09pm on May 15th).
Nrsimha Caturdasi marks the appearance day of Lord Nrsimhadeva and falls on Sunday, May 15th this year. The celebrations are not to be missed! This festival is a beautiful opportunity to experience the magnanimity of Lord Nrsimhadeva.
Please note the Temple will be open from 4:15am to 7:00pm and we welcome you to our in-person celebrations that will commence at 4:00pm, see the schedule below:

The program will begin with a special yagna (fire sacrifice) ceremony. Potent mantras will be offered to invoke protection from Nrsimhadeva who is a destroyer of negative forces. Such Vedic Sacraments are highly sanctifying, bring auspicious influences, and increase devotion as well as peace. This special Nrsimha yagna which has been performed for the last two years is potent and much needed for the times we’re in.
Once again, EVERYONE is welcome to participate in this ceremony by submitting your name (and those of your loved ones) to get the blessings of Lord Nrsimhadeva! Click HERE to submit your names by Friday, May 13th. Please note, that there is no charge for this. For opportunities to sponsor this ceremony and other areas of the festival, click HERE.

These beautiful silver tube-shaped pendants contain a prayer to Lord Nrsimhadeva written on a little scroll. Wearing these sacred mantras is a kind of Shield (Kavacha) that is to protect us. These have been specially arranged from the sacred land of Mayapur (West Bengal, India) where they have been energized in a special ceremony for Lord Nrsimhadeva. Please note limited quantities are available so act fast!
