Saturday, April 28 we will be celebrating Nrsimha Caturdasi, the appearance day of Nrsimhadeva, the half-man half-lion incarnation of Lord Krishna.
Nrsimhadeva appeared to protect a saintly five-year-old boy Prahlada, the son of Hiranyakasipu, a demoniac king. Hiranyakasipu constantly tortured Prahlada for worshipping his worst enemy, Lord Krishna. He despised the Lord and obtained several benedictions from Brahma in order to make himself as close to being immortal as possible. Nevertheless, Hiranyakasipu was killed without breaking any of these benedictions by Narsimhadeva who appeared from a pillar in the demon’s palace. As He had stated in the Bhagavad Gita, He appeared when there was a need for Him to protect His devotees and annihilate the demons.
Let us pray for the protection of Nrsimhadeva to help annihilate all obstacles in our spiritual path. Join us for the festivities Saturday evening starting at 4pm!
