What is Janmastami? 
Sri Krishna Janmastami is the appearance day of Lord Krishna. This occasion marks the biggest and grandest celebration at Toronto’s Hare Krishna Temple. Lord Krishna appeared over five thousand years ago in Mathura. His name means the all-attractive one. He is transcendental, all-knowing, and possesses all the qualities of all the avatars yet He remains as an ever-youthful cowherd boy. His beauty and sweetness know no bounds. Lord Krishna is the spiritual master and friend to all.
This is the day devotees celebrate His beautiful pastimes, His presence in their lives, taking time to remember their eternal loving relationship with Him.
What to expect?
Sri Krishna Janmashtami is the largest festival held at our temple with over 10,000 people attending on the day of the festival.
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all devotees, we kindly request your cooperation with our volunteers in keeping the queue moving and refraining from sitting in the temple hall. Due to the limited capacity of our temple and the large number of pilgrims visiting on this special occasion, we regret that seating in the temple hall will not be possible, unlike on regular days. Your understanding and cooperation will help facilitate a pleasant darshan experience for everyone to behold the divine Sri Sri Radha Ksira-Chora Gopinath.

Darshan, Aarti & Kirtan:
-Please be advised that we will have a long queue for darshan but while you await the darshan of the lord, make a special prayer on his birthday and join us in chanting as we sing the names of the Lord.

– A takeout container of Prasad will be provided along with sweets from 4 pm onwards. Ekdashi Prasad will be available at 12:30 am for those observing fast.
