Special Yagna Ceremony This Sunday!

As Hare Krishnas, ceremonies are a big part of our spiritual practice.  A fire yajna is a ceremonial ritual wherein ghee (clarified butter), grains and other items are offered into a sacred fire amidst the chanting of mantras.  It is a beautiful ritual that brings a level of auspiciousness and peacefulness to the atmosphere.

This Sunday, January 12, 2020, a special fire yajna which will be performed during the normal class time (4:45pm to 6pm) and everyone in attendance will get a chance to observe.  The purpose of this yajna will be to seek blessings from Lord Krishna for the Temple and the community of devotees as we embark on the year 2020. This special yagna will involve the chanting of the Narayana Kavacham found in the 8th chapter of the 6th canto of the Srimad Bhagvatam. It is an Armour to protect ourselves from our enemies seen and unseen. Raja Parikshith, the son of Abhimanyu, asks his teacher, Sage Shuka for a means to protect himself from his enemies. Sage Shuka then teaches him the Narayana Kavacham, which was originally taught by Sage Viswaroopa, the son of Thwashtra, to Indra.

A warm invitation goes out to you and your family to come to the temple this upcoming Sunday evening!
